Hayleys Fentons Pioneers Sri Lanka’s First European-Engineered Roof Lifeline System, Elevating Workplace Safety Standards

Elevating safety standards for workers and contractors

Hayleys Fentons Limited, the No.1 Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) contractor in Sri Lanka, has successfully completed the installation of an advanced roof lifeline system at South Asia Textiles Limited, Pugoda. This milestone marks the introduction of a European-engineered roof lifeline system in Sri Lanka, sourced from a top-tier European brand.

Driven by a commitment to workplace safety, the project was tailored to meet the specific requirements of South Asia Textiles. Recognising the critical need for fall protection, Hayleys Fentons launched an innovative safety solution designed to safeguard workers and contractors working at elevated heights.

Completed within just 20 days, the 380-metre installation across six roofs introduced cutting-edge European technology to Sri Lanka. The system, manufactured in Turkey, is certified under EN795:2012 (a European standard that specifies technical requirements and test methods for anchor devices used in personal fall protection systems) by Quintin Certifications (France). Constructed from high-strength steel with corrosion-resistant coatings, the lifeline system ensures long-term durability and superior performance, aligning with the highest European safety standards.

Hayleys Fentons successfully navigated unpredictable weather conditions and the complexities of the roof design. Customised planning and optimised work schedules ensured timely project completion without compromising safety, quality, or industry compliance.

Commenting on the project, Hasith Prematillake, Managing Director of Hayleys Fentons Limited, stated: “Safety remains at the core of everything we do. This project underscores our ability to deliver globally certified lifeline systems that provide maximum protection for workers operating at height. By introducing advanced European-engineered technology to Sri Lanka, we are setting new benchmarks in workplace safety and reaffirming our commitment to innovative, precision-driven MEP solutions.”

Sujith De Alwis, Chief Executive Officer of Hayleys Fentons Limited, added: “This installation reflects our unwavering dedication to aligning with global best practices in safety engineering. The horizontal roof lifeline system at South Asia Textiles was implemented following a thorough site inspection by the manufacturer’s engineers and executed by our expertly trained team with utmost precision. We are proud to lead the way in elevating industry standards and enhancing the safety of those working in high-risk environments.”

R.D. Sarath Chandrasiri, Manager of Occupational Health and Safety at South Asia Textiles Limited, shared: “This partnership has helped us elevate our worker safety standards, which is a top priority. Despite challenges like weather and roof complexities, Hayleys Fentons handled everything with professionalism, delivering a high-quality solution that enhanced our safety infrastructure.”

With the successful completion of this project, Hayleys Fentons further strengthens its position as a leader in the MEP sector, consistently delivering innovative solutions that enhance safety and efficiency. The company remains committed to expanding its services and driving sustainable, high-tech infrastructure development across Sri Lanka.
