Sinopec Energy Lanka Marks Second Anniversary with Family Day Celebration in Hambantota

Sinopec Energy Lanka (Pvt) Ltd commemorated its second corporate anniversary with a special Family Day celebration held in Hambantota, the birthplace of Sinopec’s operations in Sri Lanka. The two-day event brought together employees and their families in a vibrant display of the company’s people-centric culture and its ongoing commitment to sustainable growth and community integration.

Since its entry into Sri Lanka in 2019 through fuel oil operations at Hambantota, Sinopec has steadily expanded its footprint and become a significant contributor to the nation’s energy sector. The anniversary event served as a meaningful reflection on the journey that began in Hambantota and continues to shape the company’s vision for the future.

Approximately 75 employees and their families gathered for a weekend of team-building activities,  children’s art competitions, and celebrations of shared milestones. These activities underscored Sinopec’s dedication to fostering strong internal bonds and celebrating the collective efforts of its workforce and placed special focus on their families who have played a crucial role in the company’s success.

The anniversary celebration highlighted Sinopec’s commitment to localization. Over the past two years, the company has steadily increased the participation of Sri Lankan employees, who now make up nearly 70% of the workforce, built partnerships through their expansive Filling Station Dealer Network, and nurtured a corporate culture deeply rooted in the local community. This approach demonstrates Sinopec’s vision of being more than just an energy provider; the company strives to be a responsible corporate citizen that contributes to social and economic development.

Sinopec’s steady progress over the past two years stands as evidence of the combined efforts of its pioneering team in Hambantota and the growing network of local filling station dealers. The company continues to build a strong and inclusive corporate environment that values the contributions of both its employees and their families, who remain central to its continued growth.

Looking ahead, Sinopec Energy Lanka remains committed to its long-term development in Sri Lanka. The company’s roadmap includes strengthening community engagement initiatives, and contributing to the nation’s energy security. By balancing business growth with cultural integration and local partnership, Sinopec is positioning itself as a vital partner in Sri Lanka’s evolving energy landscape.
