இலங்கையின் சில பகுதிகளில் பெய்து வரும் கடும் மழை காரணமாக ஒருவர் உயிரிழந்துள்ளார். மேலும் சீரற்ற காலநிலையினால் 4 மாவட்டங்களில் 176 குடும்பங்களைச் சேர்ந்த 716 பேர் கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக அனர்த்த முகாமைத்துவ நிலையம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது. இதேவேளை, கடும் வெப்ப நிலை காரணமாக 2 மாவட்டங்களில் 1282 குடும்பங்களைச் சேர்ந்த 3834 பேர் கடுமையாகப் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இரத்தினபுரி மற்றும் களுத்துறை மாவட்ட மக்கள் இவ்வாறு பாதிக்கப்பட்டு வருவதாக தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது.
