EDB Convenes High-Level CEO Forum to Unveil National Export Roadmap

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) recently convened a landmark gathering titled the “National Export Roadmap – The CEO Forum”, bringing together top executives and chief executive officers from the country’s leading institutions to brief them on the National Export Roadmap and chart a strategic course for the future of Sri Lanka’s export sector.

The forum served as a significant platform for policy makers and top-level private sector companies to engage in high-level discussions on the nation’s long-term export vision.

The objectives of the forum together with to the National Export Roadmap were presented by Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Export Development Board. He also delivered a comprehensive presentation on the strategic objectives and framework contained within the National Export Development Plan, which has been formulated to uplift and transform Sri Lanka’s export sector to achieve US$ 36 billion export revenue by 2030.

The EDB Chairman expressed profound optimism about Sri Lanka’s export potential, describing the gathering as a defining moment in uplifting our national economic recovery. He further highlighted the importance of building new avenues to integrate Sri Lankan business leaders into the export drive and to thrive globally, in order to achieve the $36 billion target by 2030.

The Forum was attended by Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development; Hon. Kumara Jayakody, Minister of Energy; Hon. Hanif Yusoof, Governor of the Western Province; Hon. Chaturanga Abeysinghe, Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development; Mrs. J.M. Thilaka Jayasundara, Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development; and Ms. Renuka Weerakoon, Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, along with a number of senior executives from the private sector.

The Forum provided a platform to share insights and engage industry leaders, focusing on actionable pillars. A central theme that emerged was the critical importance of adopting a ‘whole-of-government approach’ to transform the ecosystem. Participants underscored that strong institutional partnerships and coordinated action across government agencies are essential to driving sustainable growth in the export sector and the broader economy.

The forum was also attended by the EDB’s Director General Mr. Erandika Dissanayake, Acting Additional Director General (Development) Ms. Kumuduni Mudalige, Director Trade Facilitation & Trade Information Dr.Sanjeewa Rathnasekara along with senior officials of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board.
